Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year at Washington Intermediate School!

At Washington Intermediate, we believe that every student deserves an education that challenges the mind, nurtures the heart, and prepares them for a successful future. As we begin a new school year, we do so with pride in the incredible strides we made in 2024–2025 and a renewed commitment to continued excellence.

Last year, our school was honored as both a State and National "School to Watch," a recognition that reflects the dedication of our staff, students, and families to fostering high achievement and a supportive school community. We also made significant gains in state assessments across English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science—a direct result of our shared belief that all students can grow and succeed.

Our focus this year remains clear: academic excellence and a positive, inclusive school culture. At WIS, we hold high expectations for all students, and we provide the tools, encouragement, and learning opportunities to help them meet those goals. From engaging classroom instruction to enriching extracurriculars—including athletics, band, choir, clubs, and after-school programs—we are committed to helping our students thrive in every aspect of their educational experience.

We believe in partnering with families to support student success. Daily attendance, strong communication, active parent involvement, and a shared focus on responsibility and resilience are all vital to helping our Thunderbirds soar.

We look forward to another incredible year of learning, growth, and achievement. Together, we will continue to build on our momentum and ensure Washington Intermediate remains a place where students are challenged, supported, and inspired.
