Principal's Message
Welcome to an exciting and historic year at Washington Intermediate School!
The 2026–2027 school year marks a significant milestone for both our school and Dinuba Unified School District. For the first time in district history, Washington Intermediate School will serve students in grades 6, 7, and 8, creating a true middle school experience for our Thunderbirds. We are thrilled to welcome our newest T-Birds—our incoming 6th-grade students and families—to campus and officially welcome them into the middle school family.
As we begin this new chapter, we remain committed to providing a learning environment where all students are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. Our mission is to prepare students for success in high school, college, careers, and life by providing engaging and meaningful learning experiences that foster both academic achievement and personal growth.
At Washington Intermediate School, our students are guided by our R.I.S.E. expectations:

We are proud of the accomplishments that have defined Washington Intermediate School, including our recognition as a State and National School to Watch, our continued academic growth, and our strong tradition of student achievement, leadership, and involvement. Whether students participate in athletics, band, choir, clubs, leadership opportunities, or after-school programs, there is a place for every Thunderbird to connect, contribute, and thrive.
We also recognize that strong schools are built through strong partnerships with families. We encourage parents and guardians to stay involved, maintain open communication with teachers and staff, support regular attendance, and work alongside us to help students achieve their goals.
This year represents more than just a new school year—it represents a new beginning and an exciting opportunity to build traditions, strengthen relationships, and create an exceptional middle school experience for all students.
